Is the PROA7PLUS Compatible with Honeywell 5800 Sensors?
The PROA7PLUS is only compatible with Honeywell 5800 Sensors if a Honeywell Home PROTAKEOVER Module is added to the system, with its dial set to 0. Only uni-directional (one-way) Honeywell 5800 Sensors can enroll. The PROA7PLUS does not support Honeywell 5800 Life-Safety Sensors or Key Fobs.
Note that the information in this FAQ applies to the Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS, the Honeywell Home PROA7, the Resideo PROA7PLUSC, and the Resideo PROA7C. These are effectively known as the Resideo ProSeries Panels. For these systems, the only sensors that are supported by default are the Honeywell Home and Resideo PROSIX Series Sensors and the Honeywell SiX Series Sensors that were originally made for the Honeywell Lyric. As a side note, the Honeywell SiX Series Sensors can never be re-used with a Honeywell Lyric System once they are paired with a ProSeries Alarm Panel.
By default, the PROA7PLUS, PROA7PLUSC, PROA7, and PROA7C do not include a wireless receiver that will support the 345 MHz, non-encrypted Honeywell 5800 Series Sensors. However, if you add a Honeywell Home PROTAKEOVER Module to the system, and you set the dial on the PROTAKEOVER Module to 0, then you will add the ability to support Honeywell 5800 Sensors, albeit with some minor limitations. The Honeywell Home PROTAKEOVER Module is a legacy wireless receiver that allows a ProSeries Alarm Panel to support one (1) of five (5) legacy sensor frequencies. The legacy sensor frequency is picked by setting a rotary dial on the PROTAKEOVER Module. When you set this dial to 0, you are telling the module to listen for the 345 MHz signal sent out by Honeywell 5800 Sensors. This will effectively allow you to use Honeywell 5800 Sensors with the PROA7PLUS, PROA7PLUSC, PROA7, or PROA7C. All of these systems support the PROTAKEOVER Module in the same manner.
There are a few things to keep in mind when using the PROTAKEOVER Module. Each ProSeries System can support up to 123 legacy zones. These zones are only available through the use of the PROTAKEOVER Module. If you combine the 123 legacy zones with the 127 encrypted zones, then each ProSeries Alarm Panel has 250 total zones. A new sensor will be assigned the next available zone number, regardless of whether it is an encrypted PROSIX or SiX Series Sensor or a legacy sensor using the PROTAKEOVER Module. In other words, if you enroll encrypted PROSIX and/or SiX Series Sensors as you also enroll legacy sensors, the zone numbers will be all mixed together, with sensors being assigned zone numbers as they are enrolled in order, Zone Number 1, 2, 3, etc. Any of the 250 total zones can be used with an encrypted sensor or a legacy sensor, it just depends what order the sensors are enrolled in. If you would like to keep all legacy RF sensors together, and all encrypted RF sensors together, you should complete enrolling one sensor type before beginning to enroll the other.
Second, the PROTAKEOVER Module will not support any life-safety sensors or key fobs. This means that you cannot use any life-safety sensors or key fobs from the Honeywell 5800 Series with your ProSeries Panel, even if you have the PROTAKEOVER Module installed, and its dial set to 0. As a result, devices like the Honeywell 5834-4 Key Fob, the Honeywell 5806W3 Smoke Detector, the Honeywell 5808W3 Smoke & Heat Detector, the Honeywell 5800COMBO, the Honeywell 5809SS Heat Detector, and the Honeywell 5800CO Carbon Monoxide Sensor are incompatible with the ProSeries Panels. Finally, you cannot use bi-directional Honeywell 5800 Sensors that use a House ID Code for pairing with the PROTAKEOVER Module. This rules out using devices like the Honeywell 5800WAVE Siren and the Honeywell 5828 Keypad with the ProSeries Alarm Panels.
