Honeywell Lyric WIFI-Only Encrypted 3-1 Kit

The Honeywell Lyric WIFI-Only Encrypted 3-1 Kit is great for smaller homes and apartments that want to use an IP-only setup. It has a Honeywell Lyric System, three (3) encrypted SiXMINICT Contacts, one (1) encrypted SiXPIR Motion Sensor, and an LT-Cable. No cellular communicator is bundled.

A system that truly needs no introduction, the Honeywell Lyric has been offering a great solution for security and home automation control since 2016. New and experienced users alike appreciate the Lyric for its impressive features and general ease of use. The system is controlled using a seven-inch (7") touchscreen, and its user interface (UI) is known for being very streamlined and straightforward. Also, the Lyric is frequently praised for its modern look that helps it fit in nicely with almost any home or office setting.

There are many security system kits offered by Alarm Grid, and a kit being listed as 3-1 means that it has three (3) door and window sensors and one (1) motion detector. With this kit, all of the included sensors are encrypted sensors from the Honeywell SiX Series. Some features universal to all Honeywell SiX Series devices are that they utilize 128-bit AES encryption for top-of-the-line security and protection, and they offer a wireless signal range of more than 300 nominal feet. The three (3) door and window sensors are Honeywell SiXMINICT Contacts, which are recognized for their slim design and low profile when surface mounted. The one (1) motion sensor is the Honeywell SiXPIR, which has a coverage area of up to 40 feet by 56 feet when mounted at a height of 7.5 feet, plus pet immunity for small animals weighing up to 80 lbs. Observe the mounting guidelines for pet immunity if this feature is being used.

If you want to expand upon your Lyric System, then you will have plenty of options and space available. The Lyric has 128 wireless zones for adding new sensors. Compatible sensors include the Honeywell SiX Series Encrypted Sensors, the Honeywell 5800 Sensors (uni-directional ones only), and the 2GIG 345 MHz Sensors. Having access to these sensor lineups is great for designing a customized security system to fit the needs of your house or your office building. After programming sensors, you will want to get your system monitored. This kit includes all you need for IP-only monitoring through the Lyric System's WIFI connection (2.4 GHz networks only). Many users opt for IP-only monitoring service because it is more affordable than dual-path monitoring where both IP and cellular communication is used. But just be aware that if you don't add a cellular communicator for a secondary pathway, then any internet outage will take the Lyric System offline. There are two (2) LTE cellular communicators available for the Lyric, those being the Honeywell LYRICLTE-A and the Honeywell LYRICLTE-V. We also have Lyric System Kits that include cellular communicators. Just keep in mind that cellular monitoring service is more expensive and requires a cellular monitoring plan.

Once the Lyric is monitored it will be connected with the Resideo AlarmNet Servers. The system sends alerts to AlarmNet, and the alerts are then forwarded to a central station and/or to the end-user directly via text and/or email if Total Connect 2.0 service is being used. If you choose to get a monitoring plan that includes access to Total Connect 2.0 you can also control your system remotely from a web browser or a mobile app on your phone. By accessing TC2, you can arm and disarm, check current system status, control your programmed automation devices, view the live feed for TC2 Security Cameras with the right monitoring plan, and more.

However, there is one drawback to Total Connect 2.0. After the Lyric System has been set up for use with Total Connect 2.0, it loses its ability to have smart scenes programmed locally. Even if the TC2 plan does not include any automation services, this still happens. The only possible workaround is to create local smart scenes before the system is set up with TC2. You will need to enroll all the necessary devices and then complete the local scene programming process. Once this. has been completed, then activate Total Connect 2.0 service. But, if your TC2 plan includes automation services, then even though you will lose your ability to create smart scenes locally, you will be able to create smart scenes remotely through TC2.

When it comes to automation services, the Lyric is quite impressive. The Lyric Controller has a built-in Z-Wave card so that you can pair devices like smart lights, door locks, thermostats, and more. You can operate the paired Z-Wave devices locally at the Lyric Alarm Panel, or you can do it remotely through TC2 if your plan includes automation. Paired devices can be included with smart scenes for automatic operation based on a schedule and/or with predetermined system events. Again though, local scene creation will be lost once the Lyric is set up with TC2. One other very impressive feature for the Lyric is its HomeKit integration. This allows you to build powerful HomeKit Automations involving the Lyric and other HomeKit-paired devices. The devices can respond automatically to Lyric System events. Additionally, it becomes possible to control your Lyric using spoken Siri Voice Commands that are sent through HomeKit. But please note that the Lyric does not readily support HomeKit when it is fresh from the box, and you won't be able to use the integration until it has been enabled by your alarm provider after you have gotten the system monitored.

The last component included with this kit is the Honeywell LT-Cable, which is used for connecting the Lyric with its plug-in transformer. The Lyric also comes with all of the necessary equipment for wall-mounting. A table stand is not included, but you can buy the Honeywell LCP500-DK Lyric Controller Desk Stand separately if you want one. A table stand is great because it will allow you to complete the full system installation with a screwdriver as the only tool
