Since 2016, the Honeywell Lyric has served as one of the finest wireless alarm control panels available. It is appreciated by experienced security system users, as well as new users who are setting up their first-ever alarm system. Its universal appeal is thanks to its sleek and modern appearance, as well as its general ease of operation from a seven-inch (7") touchscreen controller and intuitive user interface (UI). Another great aspect of the Lyric is that it has no shortage of options when it comes to peripheral sensors. The system is compatible with a premier lineup of encrypted sensors called the Honeywell SiX Series. In addition to a 300-foot nominal range, the SiX Sensors also use 128-bit AES encryption protection for wireless security. You are not restricted to only using encrypted sensors with the system, as you can also pair non-encrypted 345 MHz wireless sensors with the system. This includes wireless sensors from the Honeywell 5800 Series (uni-directional only) and the 2GIG 345 MHz Series Lineup. Once the Lyric System is activated for monitored service, it will be connected with the Resideo AlarmNet Servers. Whenever a signal comes through, AlarmNet then forwards the notification to a central station and/or the end-user directly, depending upon their alarm monitoring plan. And as a Honeywell Alarm Panel, the Lyric can be used with Total Connect 2.0. This refers to a remote interactive automation and notification platform that you can use to arm and disarm, check system status, operate programmed automation devices, view the live feed for TC2 IP Cameras if applicable, and much more. Total Connect 2.0 can be accessed remotely using a web browser or the Total Connect 2.0 Mobile App on your phone.

An important component of this system kit is the Honeywell LYRICLTE-A AT&T LTE Cellular communicator. This makes the Lyric System dual-path when paired with the panel's integrated WIFI card. The benefit of dual-path connectivity is that the system will stay monitored even if one communication path goes down or becomes unavailable. With Internet outages still being relatively common, having cellular backup from an AT&T LTE Communicator can really come in handy. The only trade-off is that the user will need to get a more expensive cellular monitoring plan instead of an internet-only plan. If you are still looking for a monitoring plan, then the Alarm Grid Gold and Platinum Level Plans provide both the cellular and internet service your Lyric System needs for dual-path connectivity. The Alarm Grid Gold Plans and Alarm Grid Platinum Plans, which include video surveillance, come in Self-Monitoring and Central Station Monitoring varieties, allowing you to choose the right plan for your needs. Please remember that if you do intend to use WIFI connectivity with your Lyric System, as most users do, then you can only connect the system to 2.4 GHz WIFI networks. Any 5 GHz WIFI networks cannot be used.

The reason why this is called a 3-1 kit is that it comes with three (3) door and window sensors and one (1) motion sensor. This is a relatively small number of sensors, so we recommend this starter kit for a smaller home or an apartment. But with 128 wireless zones available, you can easily add more devices to grow your system. As for the sensors included with this 3-1 kit, they are all encrypted sensors from the Honeywell SiX Series that offer military-grade 128-bit AES encryption protection. You get three (3) of the Honeywell SiXMINICT Mini Door and Window Contacts. These are surface-mounted contact sensors that are almost impossible to notice when installed on a flat white surface. The smaller magnet should be installed on the moving part of the door or window, and the larger sensor should be mounted on the stationary door or window frame. Opening the door or window will cause the magnet to become separated from the sensor. This will release a reed switch inside the sensor, which will tell it to alert the Lyric System, and the system will respond based on the zone's programmed settings. The motion sensor is the Honeywell SiXPIR, which offers a coverage area of 40 feet by 56 feet when mounted from a recommended height of 7 feet, 6 inches. This motion detector also supports optional pet immunity for animals weighing under 80 lbs. Small animals will pass underneath the sensor's detection zone as they walk by, and you won't have to worry about them setting off the sensor as a human intruder walking upright will. This is assuming that you have pet immunity enabled for the zone and that the pet immune sensor has been mounted correctly.

The Lyric also excels in its home automation support. The system serves as a Z-Wave controller, and you can readily pair up to (72) total Z-Wave devices. Some examples of Z-Wave devices include smart lights, door locks, thermostats, and more. Not only can these devices be operated locally at the Lyric Panel, they can also be controlled remotely by using the Total Connect 2.0 platform. A strong note here though, once a Lyric panel has been paired with a Total Connect 2.0 account, local scene programming will no longer be available. This is the case even if the Total Connect 2.0 plan being used doesn't include the automation feature. So, if you are planning to use automation locally at the panel, but not through Total Connect 2.0, then you should add all Z-Wave devices and program all scenes locally prior to setting up the Total Connect 2.0 account. Please keep this in mind when planning your system.

The Lyric also supports smart scene control so that you can have the system and its connected Z-Wave devices activate automatically based on a set schedule or with predetermined events and occurrences. Many users will set up smart scenes to make their lives easier and more comfortable, while also saving money on energy expenses. Another major benefit of the Lyric is that it is a HomeKit-compatible system. This allows iOS users to take advantage of powerful HomeKit Automations involving the Lyric and other HomeKit devices. Whether you already have a complete HomeKit network, or you are looking for a system to build one around, you cannot go wrong when it comes to the Lyric and its incredible HomeKit integration. However, you should keep in mind that HomeKit compatibility for the Lyric can only be enabled if the system is actively monitored.

We have also included a Honeywell LT-Cable with this kit. You use this prepared 8-foot cable to connect the Lyric System with its included plug-in transformer. No wire-stripping or cutting will be required. You can mount the Lyric System to a wall using the included mounting components, or you can get the Honeywell LCP500-DK Lyric Controller Desk Stand (sold separately) and complete the full installation using only a screwdriver. The optional stand is ideal for positioning the panel upright, as opposed to just leaving it flat on a table.
