Description
The Honeywell Lyric AT&T-LTE 10-1 Encrypted Kit comes with the Lyric Security System, a Honeywell LYRICLTE-A AT&T LTE Cellular Communicator, ten (10) Honeywell SiXMINICT Door/Window Sensors, one (1) Honeywell SiXPIR Motion Sensor, and a Honeywell LT-Cable. It is ready for alarm monitoring!
First released in 2016, the Honeywell Lyric Controller remains one of the very best options for keeping homes and businesses safe and protected. It is loved by DIY users who want an effective option for setting up their own security system, without needing to hire a professional installer. This is a truly easy-to-use wireless alarm panel that is loaded with the very best features in both security and automation. Now you too can get a Lyric Panel with a seven-inch (7") touchscreen controller and a full set of security sensors to go with it. A 10-1 system kit like this is ideal for a large home or small business where many sensors are needed. But the Lyric has plenty of room for other additions as well, so you can truly go out and design an ideal alarm system for the unique needs of your home or office.
Starting with the security features, the Lyric has space to accommodate up to 128 wireless zones. It also has local end-user programming, meaning that you will be able to add, edit, and delete sensors all on your own as you wish. It is your security system after all, so you should be in complete control. You will have plenty of peripheral sensor options to choose from on that front. The Lyric System readily supports encrypted Honeywell SiX Series Sensors, as well as legacy 345 MHz sensors, including one-way Honeywell 5800 Sensors and all non-encrypted 2GIG 345 MHz Sensors. The Honeywell SiX Sensors are particularly heralded for their 128-bit AES encryption and their wireless range of 300 nominal feet. And being able to mix-in some non-encrypted sensors as needed will really help flesh out your system. Keep in mind though that the only sensors actually bundled with this 10-1 kit are encrypted sensors. Once you get the Lyric System monitored, it will be connected with the Resideo AlarmNet Servers. Whenever an event occurs on your system, it will be sent to AlarmNet, and AlarmNet will then forward the alert to a central station and/or directly to you via text and/or email, all depending upon your monitoring plan.
The Lyric System is also ready for use with the Total Connect 2.0 Security and Automation Platform. You can access TC2 through a web browser or a mobile app on your phone. The TC2 platform allows you to conveniently arm and disarm, check system status, control programmed automation devices, view live TC2 Camera feeds when applicable, and much more. But one downside to Total Connect 2.0 is that it takes away the ability to program smart scenes locally on the Lyric. This happens even if the TC2 service that was added does not include automation functionality. The only workaround for this is to build local smart scenes prior to activating the system's TC2 account. You must pair all of the necessary Z-Wave devices and build all of the local scenes prior to activating the TC2 account. And also don't forget that if you select a monitoring plan with TC2 automation services, then although you will still lose the ability to program smart scenes locally, you will gain the ability to create smart scenes remotely through the TC2 platform.
This Lyric System Kit wouldn't be complete without the Honeywell LYRICLTE-A. This is an AT&T LTE Communicator that provides a valuable secondary communication path for the Lyric System, in addition to its integrated WIFI. The cellular connectivity supplements the system's WIFI connectivity nicely, and it can even be life-saving in the event of an internet outage. The one thing to remember though is that using a cellular communicator with your system will require you to sign-up for a monitoring plan that includes cellular connectivity, such as an Alarm Grid Gold or Platinum Level Plan. A cellular monitoring plan for dual-path service (IP & Cellular) is usually more expensive than an internet-only plan, but it is also the best way to ensure that your system always stays reliably monitored. One other tidbit to consider with the Lyric System is that it can only be used with 2.4 GHz WIFI networks, and it will not work with any 5 GHz networks.
When you see a security system kit on Alarm Grid labeled as 10-1, it means that the kit has ten (10) door and window contacts and one (1) motion sensor. In this case, all of the sensors included with the kit are encrypted sensors that offer top-of-the-line wireless protection and security. The ten (10) Honeywell SiXMINICT Door and Window Contacts feature a super slim profile, and they practically vanish when they are surface-mounted on a flat, white surface. Installation for the door and window contact sensors is quite simple. Mount the larger sensor portion on the stationary door or window frame, and mount the smaller magnet on the moving part of the door or window, directly adjacent to the sensor. When the door or window is closed, the sensor and magnet will be in contact, and nothing will happen. But if you open the door or window, then the magnet will separate from the sensor, and a reed switch inside the sensor will be released. The sensor will detect this, and it will send an alert to the Lyric Alarm System to let it know that the door or window has been opened. How the Lyric responds will depend upon the programming settings for the zone.
Meanwhile, the Honeywell SiXPIR Motion Sensor looks for the changes in infrared (IR) energy that occur when a person walks through the protected area. The SiXPIR in particular has a coverage area of 40 feet by 56 feet when it is mounted at an optimal height of 7.5 feet. It also supports optional pet immunity, which can be turned ON and OFF within the zone settings. When pet immunity is enabled and the pet immune sensor is mounted properly, then small animals weighing less than 80 pounds will be able to walk past the motion sensor without activating it. This is because the small animal will be moving closer to the ground and pass underneath the detection zone, unlike a much larger human intruder walking upright who would easily trigger the sensor and fault the zone.
Another area where the Lyric System thrives is in smart home automation. The system has an integrated Z-Wave controller, and it can support up to (72) total Z-Wave devices. Some common types of Z-Wave devices include smart lights, door locks, thermostats, and more. You can operate your paired Z-Wave devices locally at the Lyric Alarm Panel, or remotely through the Total Connect 2.0 service. It is also possible to build smart scenes around your smart home devices so that they activate automatically based on a schedule and/or with predetermined system events. Smart scenes are excellent for making your life easier, and also for helping you save money on your energy expenses in the long run. Just don't forget that local smart scene programming is lost once the Lyric is activated with Total Connect 2.0. The only available scene creation will be scenes programmed remotely through TC2, and that will require a monitoring plan with automation services. Also, one particularly noteworthy feature for the Lyric is its Apple HomeKit integration, which really opens up some incredible automation possibilities for the system. You can build robust and powerful HomeKit Automations to have your HomeKit-compatible devices respond automatically to Lyric System events. The possibilities are truly endless, so you really can't go wrong with the Lyric if you are hoping to integrate the system with a HomeKit network. One thing to keep in mind is that the Lyric System must be monitored in order to enable Apple HomeKit compatibility.
There is also a Honeywell LT-Cable included with this kit. Thanks to this cable, you won't need to strip or prepare any wire when setting up the system. In fact, if you opt for a Honeywell LCP500-DK Lyric Controller Desk Stand instead of mounting the system to the wall, then you can actually complete the entire installation with just a screwdriver! The optional desk stand is perfect for those who don't want to wall-mount the system, as well as users who are unable to drill holes in the wall for any reason. It is the perfect add-on accessory for your new Lyric System Kit!
