Description
The Honeywell Lyric WIFI-Only 10-1 Kit comes with a Lyric Panel, ten (10) VERSA-2GIG Door/Window Sensors, one (1) SiXPIR, and the LT-Cable. The 10-1 alarm system kit is nice for users with larger homes and offices who are looking to get started with new alarm monitoring service. Buy it here.
Even though it was first released back in 2016, the Lyric still remains one of the top alarm control panels on the market today. The system has managed to stay relevant thanks to its sleek and modern design, its ease of operation through its seven-inch (7") touchscreen controller, its ample room for expansion with a wide selection of security and environmental sensors, and its many smart home automation capabilities, including an awesome integration with Apple HomeKit. This is an incredibly versatile and adaptable system that can be used with any Alarm Grid Monitoring Plan.
The reason why this is called a 10-1 kit is because it has ten (10) door and window sensors and one (1) motion detector. The door/window contacts are VERSA-2GIG Door and Window Sensors, which are surface-mounted contacts that offer a sleek and slim profile. They are practically invisible when mounted on a flat, white surface. Meanwhile. the included motion sensor, the Honeywell SiXPIR is an encrypted sensor with a 40 feet by 56 feet maximum coverage area when mounted at 7.5 feet high, as well as pet immunity for small animals weighing up to 80 lbs. As a 10-1 kit, we recommend this one for larger homes and businesses where many sensors are needed.
Another nice aspect of the Lyric Alarm System is that it can be greatly expanded upon. The system has 128 wireless zones in total, and it has a wide selection of compatible sensors. Compatible peripherals include the Honeywell SiX Series Encrypted Sensors and non-encrypted 345 MHz wireless sensors from the Honeywell 5800 Series (uni-directional only) and the 2GIG 345 MHz Lineup. We usually advise getting the Lyric programmed and enrolling its sensors before activating the system for monitoring service.
This Lyric System is ready for internet-only monitoring right out of the box, and we often promote this kit for users who intend to stick exclusively with internet protocol (IP) connectivity, at least starting out. But you may decide later on that you want to upgrade the Lyric System to support cellular connectivity as well. You can use cellular as the only communication path, or it can serve as a backup to internet connectivity in a dual-path setup. In order to set up cellular connectivity with the system, you will need to add a cellular communicator. We recommend using one of the LTE cellular communicators for the Lyric. The available options include the Honeywell LYRICLTE-A (AT&T LTE) and the Honeywell LYRICLTE-V (Verizon LTE). If you haven't purchased the Lyric yet, and you know that you will want to use cellular monitoring from day one, then you should check out one of our Lyric System Kits that includes a cellular module. Remember that while cellular connectivity offers the best reliability, it is also more expensive, as it requires a monitoring plan that includes cellular service. The extra cost covers the expenses associated with the cellular service provider.
Once the Lyric has been activated for alarm monitoring service, it will engage in active communication with the Resideo AlarmNet Servers. The Lyric sends any important alerts and notifications to AlarmNet. From there, the alerts and notifications are forwarded to a central monitoring station and/or to the end-user directly via text and/or email when Total Connect 2.0 service is also included. All direct end-user alerts are facilitated through a service called Total Connect 2.0 (TC2). We strongly advise getting a monitoring plan with access to the TC2 service, as it really unlocks the system's true potential, and it makes controlling the Lyric System much more convenient. For those who are completely unfamiliar with TC2, it is an interactive notification and automation platform that you can use to operate the Lyric System remotely through a web browser or a mobile app on an Android or iOS device. By accessing TC2, you can arm/disarm, check system status, control automation devices, view the live feed for TC2 Cameras when your plan supports it, and more.
The only downside to setting up the Lyric with TC2 is that the service will take away the ability to program panel smart scenes locally through the touchscreen. This happens even if the TC2 service does not include automation. You can somewhat workaround this issue by programming all the local smart scenes before creating the panel's TC2 account. To do this, you must enroll all of the necessary automation devices and then actually create the local scenes. Also keep in mind that if your TC2 service comes with automation, then you will be able to instead create smart scenes remotely through the TC2 platform. This mostly offers the same functionality as the local scene programming that is only available before the Lyric is set up with TC2. There may be some slight differences.
There are plenty of smart home automation options for the Lyric Alarm System. The Lyric has an integrated Z-Wave card so that you can enroll devices such as smart lights, door locks, thermostats, and more. You can operate any paired Z-Wave devices locally at the Lyric or remotely by using TC2, assuming that the system is monitored with a plan that comes with automation services. A major advantage to setting up Z-Wave devices with the Lyric is that you can include the devices in smart scenes to have them activate automatically based on a predetermined schedule and/or with various Lyric System events. But don't forget that all local scene creation ability is lost after the Lyric is set up with TC2. The Lyric also offers a very impressive Apple HomeKit integration, which allows you to pair the Lyric with your HomeKit network and create HomeKit Automations that combine Lyric events with other HomeKit-compatible devices. This way, you can set up your HomeKit devices to respond automatically to activity on the Lyric System, and you can even control the Lyric through spoken Siri Voice Commands. One very important thing to mention though is that the Lyric does not have HomeKit compatibility enabled by default, and the only way to enable the feature is to get the Lyric System monitored.
We have also included a Honeywell LT-Cable with this kit. The Honeywell LT-Cable is a prepared power adapter cable that can be used to easily connect the Lyric Panel with its included transformer. All of the hardware for wall-mounting the panel is included as well. But if you want to do a desk-mount installation, then you should purchase the Honeywell LCP500-DK Lyric Controller Desk Stand separately. This will allow the panel to stand upright on a table or desk. By choosing to table-mount the Lyric with its desk stand, you can complete the full system installation using a screwdriver as the only tool.
