Honeywell Lyric Verizon-LTE 10-1 Kit

The Honeywell Lyric Verizon-LTE 10-1 Kit is an encrypted system kit that includes everything you need to get started. You get a new Lyric Alarm Panel, ten (10) Honeywell SiXMINICT Contacts, a Honeywell SiXPIR Motion, a Honeywell LYRICLTE-V Verizon LTE Communicator, and a Honeywell LT-Cable.

The Honeywell Lyric Alarm System is one of the best panels on the market today. This system features a gorgeous 7" touchscreen, support for up to 128 wireless zones, 48 user code slots, integrated WIFI, a built-in Z-Wave controller, 10 different chiming sounds, spoken voice annunciation, and so much more. This is an excellent system for anyone who is new to home or small business security.

All of the sensors included with this system kit utilize 128-bit AES encryption. This makes them nearly impossible for anyone to hack or takeover wirelessly. This type of encryption is also ideal for thwarting any RF jamming attempts. The ten (10) Honeywell SiXMINICT Contacts are perfect for mounting on doors and windows. And the SiXPIR Motion can reliably detect changes in infrared energy that occur with movement. All of these sensors can be mounted with screws or with double-sided foam tape, which is included.

With 128 wireless zones, there is ample room for expansion on this system. You can pair encrypted sensors from the Honeywell SiX Series, plus non-encrypted 345 MHz wireless sensors, including ones from the Honeywell 5800 Series (uni-directional only) and the 2GIG 345 MHz Series. Mixing and matching sensors is great for designing the perfect security system at the best possible price. Many users will opt for encrypted sensors at zones related to security, such as doors and windows on the ground floor, but may opt for a non-encrypted option for a notification zone, such as a contact on a liquor or medicine cabinet where children may be able to reach, or a motion detector used only to notify the occupant when there is foot traffic in a certain area.

Another great aspect of this kit is the Verizon LTE Communicator. This is a very important accessory for ensuring reliable communication with the AlarmNet Servers. The panel can also connect with ANET using its WIFI card, but cellular communication is so much more reliable. Cellular acts as an excellent backup communication path. Using WIFI and cellular together like this is often referred to as dual-path service. Connecting with AlarmNet is needed not only for monitoring service, but also for using Total Connect 2.0 with your system. This is a great notification and automation platform that can certainly make your life easier. Remember that you need a Gold Plan or higher to activate a cellular communicator for use with AlarmNet and TC2 through AlarmGrid.

One very important thing to consider is that once a Lyric has been activated with Total Connect 2.0 it will no longer have the ability to program smart scenes locally. This occurs even if the TC2 plan does not include automation. If you want to set up local scenes, then you should create them before activating the system with the TC2 service. Creating local scenes will involve enrolling all of the necessary Z-Wave devices and also actually creating scenes locally at the panel. Again, this must be done before setting up the system with TC2. But do consider the fact that if your monitoring plan includes TC2 automation services, then you will be able to build smart scenes remotely through the TC2 platform once it is activated. This should cover all of your smart home automation needs.

Speaking of automation, the Lyric thrives in that aspect, thanks to its built-in Z-Wave controller and its HomeKit Integration. With Z-Wave, you can pair all sorts of smart home automation devices, including smart lights, door locks, and thermostats. You can also build smart scenes to have your Z-Wave devices activate automatically based on a schedule or with system events. But remember, local scene creation will be lost once the system is set up with TC2. As for the HomeKit integration, it allows you to create powerful HomeKit Automations so that your HomeKit devices respond automatically to Lyric system events. Please note though that compatibility between the Lyric and HomeKit is only available if the system is monitored.

Also bundled with this kit are a power transformer and a Honeywell LT-Cable for providing reliable power. You also receive all of the needed hardware for mounting the Lyric Panel to the wall. But if you want an even easier installation, then you may consider getting the Honeywell LCP500-DK Lyric Controller Desk Stand. You can use that to position the Lyric System upright on a table or desk. The only tool you will need to complete the installation is a screwdriver!
