The Honeywell Lyric Verizon-LTE 3-1 Kit is perfect for apartments and smaller homes! This alarm system kit includes a Honeywell Lyric Alarm System, a Honeywell LYRICLTE-V Verizon LTE Cellular communicator, three (3) VERSA-2GIG Contacts, a Honeywell SiXPIR Motion, and a Honeywell LT-Cable.

The Lyric is a robust and powerful system that can make a great addition to your home or small business. This system offers a 7" touchscreen, support for up to 128 wireless zones, a built-in WIFI card, integrated Z-Wave, the ability to program up to 48 user codes, 10 different chime settings, voice annunciation, and more. The system has also received tremendous praise for its HomeKit integration. We find that the 3-1 kit size is ideal for smaller homes and apartments.

The sensors included with this kit are all very effective, and they are super easy to install. The VERSA-2GIG Contacts are great for monitoring almost any door or window. The SiXPIR accurately responds to changes in infrared energy caused by movement. It also offers optional pet immunity for small animals weighing under 80 lbs, as they can pass underneath the sensor's detection zone without activating it. This is assuming that the pet immune motion sensor has been mounted properly and the setting for pet immunity is enabled in programming. If you don't want to drill holes in the wall, you can mount these sensors using the provided double-sided foam tape. Remember that you get three (3) door and window contacts and one (1) motion detector with this kit. That is why it is called a 3-1 kit.

Since the Lyric supports up to 128 wireless zones, you should have no trouble expanding upon the system later on if you need to. You can choose encrypted sensors from the Honeywell SiX Series, as well as non-encrypted 345 MHz sensors from the Honeywell 5800 Series (uni-directional only) and the 2GIG 345 MHz Lineup. And once you get the system monitored, it will communicate with the Resideo AlarmNet Servers. From AlarmNet, system alerts and notifications are then passed on to a central station and/or the end user directly, depending on the user's monitoring plan.

This kit comes with a Verizon LTE Communicator. Since the system already has a built-in WIFI card, it will be dual-path ready once you install the communicator. This is perfect for connecting with the AlarmNet Servers for monitoring and accessing the Total Connect 2.0 platform. Even if one path goes does or becomes unavailable (e.g. an internet outage), the other communication path will still actively keep the system monitored. Remember that you will need a Gold Plan or higher to activate a cellular communicator for use with TC2 through Alarm Grid.

And one very important note about using TC2 with the Lyric is that it will take away the user's ability to program local smart scenes. This is true, even if the TC2 monitoring plan doesn't actually include automation. If you intend to set up local automation on the Lyric, but not use automation through Total Connect 2.0, then you should take action before getting the system monitored. This will include pairing all of the needed Z-Wave devices and programming all of the local smart scenes before you set up your Total Connect 2.0 account. Remember that if your TC2 plan includes automation, then you will be able to build scenes remotely through TC2.

It should also be mentioned that the Lyric is truly a stand-out system when it comes to smart home automation. It includes a built-in Z-Wave controller that allows you to pair devices like smart lights, door locks, and thermostats so that you can control them from both the panel and TC2 if you have the system monitored. You can also create smart scenes to have your paired devices activate automatically based on a set schedule or with predetermined system events. This is superb for making your life easier and saving money on energy bills. Just don't forget that local scene programming becomes impossible after the system has been set up with Total Connect 2.0. And if you're an iOS user, then you're in luck, because the Lyric supports an excellent integration with Apple HomeKit. The advantage with Apple HomeKit is that you can create customized HomeKit Automations that have HomeKit devices activate automatically with events on the Lyric. One thing to note though is that HomeKit-compatibility for the Lyric can only be enabled if the system is monitored.

Also bundled in this kit is a transformer and a convenient Honeywell LT-Cable for providing power. With three (3) door and window contacts and a motion sensor, this kit is perfect for apartments and smaller homes. The only other thing you might consider getting is a Honeywell LCP500-DK Lyric Controller Desk Stand (sold separately). That accessory will help you keep the Lyric System upright and better-positioned if you do not feel like mounting the system to the wall. With the desk stand, you can achieve a complete security system installation using only a screwdriver!
