Honeywell Lyric Verizon-LTE 3-1 Kit

The Honeywell Lyric Verizon-LTE 3-1 Kit is an encrypted system kit that is good for smaller homes and apartments. This 3-1 kit includes a Honeywell Lyric Alarm System, three (3) SiXMINICT Contact Sensors, a SiXPIR Motion Sensor, a LYRICLTE-V Communicator and a LT-Cable. Monitoring ready!

The Lyric Controller is a robust and powerful alarm system with so much to offer. It has a great 7" touchscreen, the capacity for 128 wireless zones, support for up to 48 user codes, built-in WIFI and Z-Wave functionality, 10 distinct chime sounds, spoken voice annunciation, and so much more. As a 3-1 system kit, we recommend this kit for smaller homes and apartments, though you can easily expand upon the system later on if needed.

The sensors bundled in this kit utilize 128-bit AES encryption in all of their wireless communication. Potential intruders will find it near-to impossible to hack or takeover these sensors wirelessly. And this military-grade encryption also makes these sensors virtually impervious to any RF jamming attacks. This is perfect for anyone who wants complete peace of mind in knowing that their home or business is always safe. All of the sensors are super easy to enroll and install, so you will be up and running in no time at all!

This is considered a 3-1 kit because you get three (3) door and window contacts, and one (1) motion sensor. The Honeywell SiXMINICT Contacts are nice and compact, and they will work with almost any door or window. The Honeywell SiXPIR Motion Sensor is also easy to install, and it can consistently detect the changes in IR energy that occur when movement is present. You can mount these sensors using screws, or you can do a tool-free installation using double-sided foam tape which comes included with each sensor. Just remember that a screwdriver is required to open the sensors.

There is also plenty of room for expansion on this system. The Lyric has 128 wireless zones available for supporting added sensors. You can choose from the encrypted sensors from the Honeywell SiX Series, as well as non-encrypted 345 MHz wireless sensors, such as those from the Honeywell 5800 Series (uni-directional only) and the 2GIG 345 MHz Series. Being able to mix and match sensors from these awesome product lineups will give you many options!

While the Verizon LTE Communicator might be overlooked, we can tell you that it is extremely important. The panel uses this module to communicate reliably with the AlarmNet servers operated by Resideo. Although the panel already has a built-in WIFI card, cellular communication is significantly more reliable. Unlike IP, cellular service is not prone to random outages. This is crucial for ensuring that your system always remains monitored. Just remember when activating with Alarm Grid that you need a Gold Plan or higher to activate the cellular communicator for monitoring service.

It is recommended that you choose a monitoring plan with access to Total Connect 2.0. This is an outstanding notification and automation platform that you can access from nearly anywhere. This is made possible using the free Total Connect 2.0 Mobile App for Android and iOS devices. By accessing TC2, you can Arm and Disarm your system, control your Z-Wave devices, check your current system's status, and more. And with dual-path connectivity through IP and LTE cellular, you should find that your Lyric System always shows quick responses when you control it remotely.

But one very important thing to keep in mind when using the Lyric with Total Connect 2.0 is that doing so will take away the ability to program smart scenes locally. This happens even if the TC2 service does not include automation. If your plan is to set up local smart scenes, then you should create them before activating your TC2 account. You must program all of the relevant Z-Wave devices and then create all the scenes. Also keep in mind that if your TC2 plan includes automation services, then although you still lose access to create scenes locally, you will be able to create smart scenes remotely from that platform.

The Lyric is also a great system when it comes to smart home automation. It includes a built-in Z-Wave controller for adding devices like smart lights, door locks, and thermostats. You can control paired devices locally at the panel or remotely through Total Connect 2.0. You can also create smart scenes to have your Z-Wave devices activate automatically based on a set schedule or with predetermined system events. Just remember that local scene creation will become lost once the system is associated with a TC2 account, even if the plan does not include automation. One other feature for the Lyric is its HomeKit Integration that lets you create HomeKit Automations so that HomeKit devices respond automatically to activity on the Lyric System. Don't forget though that the Lyric does not have HomeKit compatibility enabled by default, and the only way to enable the feature is to get the system monitored.

Lastly, this bundled kit includes a transformer and LT-Cable for providing power. Mounting hardware is also included. But one thing that isn't included is the Honeywell LCP500-DK Lyric Controller Desk Stand. This desk stand is excellent if you do not want to mount the system to the wall. Thanks to the desk stand, it's possible to achieve a complete installation using only a screwdriver!
