There are many things that make the Honeywell Lyric Alarm System one of our most popular panels. The system includes a beautiful 7" touchscreen, the ability to support up to 128 wireless zones and 48 user codes, built-in WIFI and Z-Wave functionality, 10 unique chime settings, voice annunciation, and more. The panel is very easy to use, and it fits in nicely with almost any décor. This kit in particular is good for larger homes and small businesses that require a large number of sensors. We also strongly recommend the Honeywell Lyric for iOS users because of its notable HomeKit Integration.

The sensors bundled with this kit are simple, yet effective. You get ten (10) VERSA-2GIG Contacts that can be installed on most doors and windows. The one (1) SiXPIR is a wireless motion detecting sensor that looks for changes in infrared energy that occur with movement. These sensors can all be mounted using double-sided foam tape, which comes included, if you don't want to drill holes in your walls. When you see an Alarm Grid Kit labeled as 10-1, then you know it's because the kit has 10 contact sensors and 1 motion sensor.

If you ever need to expand upon the Lyric System, then you won't have any problems on that front. The system has 128 wireless zones that are ready to be set up with all types of wireless sensors. Compatible peripheral devices include encrypted sensors from the Honeywell SiX Series, and non encrypted 345 MHz sensors, like those from the Honeywell 5800 Series (uni-directional only) and the 2GIG 345 MHz Series.

Once you get your Lyric System monitored, it will be connected with the AlarmNet Servers. AlarmNet forwards system alerts and notifications to a central station and/or to the end-user directly via text and/or email, depending upon their alarm monitoring plan. You should make sure to get a monitoring plan that includes access to Total Connect 2.0, as that is the best way to control your system remotely. You can use Total Connect 2.0 or arm and disarm your system, check its current status, control programmed automation devices, and more. The service can be accessed online or through a mobile app.

One important note though is that setting the system up with Total Connect 2.0 will take away the ability to program local smart scenes. This is true even if the TC2 plan doesn't include automation services. If you want to use local automation with the Lyric, then you should pair all the necessary Z-Wave devices and program all the local smart scenes prior to setting up your TC2 account. If monitoring plan includes automation, then you will be able to build smart scenes for your Lyric System through the TC2 platform.

This kit wouldn't be complete without the Verizon LTE Communicator. The system uses this communicator to connect with the AlarmNet360 servers for monitoring and accessing Total Connect 2.0. The system also includes a built-in WIFI card for this purpose. But the cellular communicator will provide a reliable backup communication path in case the internet goes down. Remember, you need a Gold Plan or higher to activate a cellular module with Alarm Grid monitoring service. Using WIFI and cellular together is known as dual-path connectivity, and it ensures the most reliable alarm monitoring service.

Another area of excellence for the Lyric is in its automation capabilities. The system has an integrated Z-Wave controller, allowing users to pair devices like smart lights, door locks, and thermostats. The paired devices can then be controlled remotely from both the Lyric Panel and the Total Connect 2.0 interactive platform. Customized smart scenes can also be created so that devices activate automatically based upon a schedule and/or with predetermined system events. Remember that only remote TC2 smart scenes can be built once the system is set up with TC2, as all local scene programming becomes lost once the system has integrated with the TC2 platform. The Lyric also supports an impressive HomeKit integration, allowing users to build customized HomeKit Automations in which HomeKit devices automatically respond automatically to activity on the Lyric System. But one note regarding Apple HomeKit compatibility is that it is only possible to enable the feature if the Lyric System is actively monitored.

Lastly, the kit also includes a transformer and an LT-Cable for providing power. All of the necessary mounting hardware is bundled as well. But one thing you do not receive in this kit is a desk stand. The Honeywell LCP500-DK Lyric Controller Desk Stand (sold separately) is a good option if you want one. The benefit of a desk stand is that you can complete the entire system installation with a screwdriver as the only tool. This also really comes in handy if you are unable to mount the Lyric Panel to the wall for whatever reason.
