Can Apartment Dwellers Install a Security System?

Honeywell and 2GIG offer self contained wireless security systems that make it easy for apartment dwellers to install a security system. Installing a self contained wireless system means no holes need to be drilled in walls, and users can take the system with them when and if they move.

Wireless devices such as door, window sensors, motion detectors, glass break detectors, smoke and co detectors can be mounted on window and door frames, walls and ceilings using the double sided adhesive included with each device. Wireless devices are programmed to the alarm panel using RF frequency, so there is no need for wires to be run back to the panel.

The Honeywell & 2GIG control panels come with a compatible transformer, and wire is needed to connect the transformer to the alarm panel, then the transformer is plugged into a standard outlet. The LT Cable is a universal power supply cable and is compatible with both Honeywell and 2GIG alarm panels. The LT Cable makes it easy to connect the transformer to the panel so users do not have to purchase wire, measure, cut and splice to connect. The LT Cable is 8 feet long and the 2GIG AC2- Plug (only compatible with 2GIG alarm panels) is 10 feet long.

Both Honeywell & 2GIG wireless alarm panels have a compatible desk mount so there is no need to drill holes in the wall to mount the control panel. Using a desk mount the panel can be placed on a kitchen counter, end table or night stand and can be easily moved from room to room.

Honeywell’s self contained wireless systems are: the Lynx series wireless systems; Lynx Plus (L3000), Lynx Touch L5210 and the Lynx Touch L7000. The Lyric Controller and the Lyric Gateway.

The following are the compatible desk mount for the Lynx Plus is the L3000DM, Lynx Touch L5210, is the L5000DM and the Lynx Touch L7000 is the L7000DM.

The Lyric Controller’s compatible desk mount is the LCP500-DK and the Lyric Gateway is shipped with a desk stand (no need to purchase a separate piece of equipment).

The 2GIG Go Control and the 2GIG GC3’s compatible desk panel is the 2GIG CP-DESK.

The Honeywell alarm panels can communicate through the compatible WIFI module or internet communicator, cellular communicators and the Lynx Plus (L3000) and Lynx Touch L5210 can also connect to a land line. Please check for the compatible communicator for each panel.

The 2GIG alarm panels communicate by connecting the panel to a landline or a cellular communicator.
