Description
The Honeywell Lyric AT&T-LTE 10-1 Kit comes with the Lyric Security System, a Honeywell LYRICLTE-A AT&T LTE Cellular Communicator, ten (10) VERSA-2GIG Door/Window Sensors, one (1) Honeywell SiXPIR Motion Sensor, and a Honeywell LT-Cable. Everything you need for alarm monitoring is included!
A system that has truly stood the test of time, the Honeywell Lyric Controller remains one of the most popular and dependable wireless alarm panels, despite being released back in 2016. New and experienced users alike appreciate the panel's modern look, as well as its seven-inch (7") touchscreen controller and intuitive user interface (UI) that makes controlling and operating the security system a breeze. We usually recommend a 10-1 system kit like this one for use in a larger home or a small business. The system also has plenty of room for expansion, so you can really flesh it out and build the perfect alarm system for your needs.
Starting with security, the Lyric impresses with support for up to 128 wireless zones. Sensors can be added, edited, and deleted with ease, thanks to the system's local end-user programming. Users can make their own system changes, without needing to pay an installer for the trouble. The system has some excellent options when it comes to peripheral sensors, led by the Honeywell SiX Series Sensors. These are encrypted sensors (128-bit AES) that offer some of the best protection in the industry, plus a nice wireless range of 300 nominal feet. You can also mix and match non-encrypted 345 MHz sensors, including those from the Honeywell 5800 Series Lineup (uni-directional only) and the 2GIG 345 MHz Series. For alarm monitoring service, the Lyric communicates with the Resideo AlarmNet Servers, and AlarmNet ultimately forwards alerts to a central monitoring station and/or the end user via text message and/or email, based upon the user's monitoring plan. Like most Honeywell and Resideo Alarm Panels, the Lyric is set up for use with Total Connect 2.0. This is an interactive notification and automation platform that allows users to conveniently arm and disarm their systems, check current system status, control programmed smart home devices, view the live feed for compatible TC2 Cameras when applicable, and more. You can access Total Connect 2.0 using a compatible web browser or through a mobile app on your phone.
One very important note for users who plan to get the Lyric System monitored for use with Total Connect 2.0 is that setting up the system with the TC2 service will take away the ability to program smart scenes locally. This is true even if the TC2 plan in question does not include automation services. If you are expecting to program smart scenes locally with the Lyric, but not use automation with Total Connect 2.0, then you should set them up prior to getting the system monitored. Program all of the Z-Wave smart home devices, and build all of the localized scenes prior to activating your TC2 account. And also keep in mind that if you selected a monitoring plan with automation services for TC2, then although you lose the ability to create smart scenes locally, you will gain the ability to build smart scenes remotely through the TC2 platform.
A cellular communicator is included with this kit, and since the Lyric already has built-in WIFI, a new user will be all set for dual-path connectivity right from the start. The Honeywell LYRICLTE-A is an AT&T LTE Communicator, and it provides valuable cellular backup for when the internet goes down. This is important for helping to ensure that the Lyric System stays reliably connected and monitored at all times. However, the user will need to make sure that they get a monitoring plan with cellular service included, such as an Alarm Grid Gold or Platinum Plan (Self or Full). It is also important to note that the Lyric WIFI is restricted to use with 2.4 GHz networks only. You cannot use 5 GHz networks with the Lyric.
When you see a security system kit on Alarm Grid listed as 10-1, it means that there are ten (10) door and window contacts and one (1) motion sensor. You probably won't need this many door/window sensors unless you have a larger home or office, so you may also consider a 3-1 kit if you have a smaller home or an apartment. But whether you go with the 10-1 size or the 3-1 size, you will be getting some excellent sensors.
The VERSA-2GIG is a third-party door and window sensor that actually has the same design as the popular Honeywell 5800MINI. This is a very sleek and slim sensor that all but vanishes when surface-mounted on a white door and frame. It includes a magnet that is mounted on the moving part of the door or window, plus a larger sensor that is mounted on the door or window frame. Opening the door or window causes the magnet to become separated from the sensor. This releases a reed switch inside the sensor, and it then alerts the system to the activity.
As for the Honeywell SiXPIR Motion Sensor, the device uses 128-bit AES encryption, and offers a wireless range of about 300 nominal feet. It has a coverage area of about 40 feet by 56 feet when mounted at its recommended height of 7.5 feet. The SiXPIR also supports optional pet immunity for small animals weighing up to 80 lbs. Small animals pass under the sensor's coverage area and do not activate the sensor. However, you must be careful to follow all the mounting guidelines for pet immunity, because otherwise, a pet may still be able to activate the sensor.
But the Lyric doesn't just stop at security. The system can become the centerpiece of your home or office as a complete smart home automation controller. It offers built-in Z-Wave, and it is ready to support up to (72) total Z-Wave devices. This includes smart lights, door locks, thermostats, and more. And not only can you control these devices at the Lyric Panel, you can also operate them remotely using the Total Connect 2.0 platform. And with smart scene control, you can have your Z-Wave devices activate automatically based on a set schedule or with predetermined system events. This is great for reducing energy expenses and making your day-to-day life as convenient as possible. Don't forget though that local scene programming will be lost once the Lyric is set up with TC2, even if the TC2 plan includes no automation functionality. We are also pleased to say that the Lyric is HomeKit-compatible, and iOS users can take advantage of powerful HomeKit Automations that include other devices on the HomeKit network. Whether you have an existing HomeKit network and the Lyric is new to the party, or you plan on building a new HomeKit network around the system, the Lyric is a great option. Please note that you must have the Lyric System monitored to enable Apple HomeKit compatibility.
The final component of this kit is the Honeywell LT-Cable. This is a prepared 8-foot cable with a barrel connector that can be unplugged to conveniently disconnect system power if needed. No wire-stripper or cutter is needed to connect the Lyric System to its included plug-in transformer. Plus the Lyric has all its mounting hardware included, and you only need some basic tools to complete the wall-mount installation. Or if you want a full installation using nothing more than a screwdriver, then you may also consider purchasing the Honeywell LCP500-DK Lyric Controller Desk Stand, which is sold separately. The desk stand positions the system upright, for optimal desk or counter mounted viewing and control.
