TC2 is Now Available as an Alexa Skill!

Alarm Grid is happy to announce that the Total Connect 2.0 Alexa Skill has finally been released. This makes it possible to use an Amazon Alexa device to control a Honeywell Alarm System. Users can check the status of their alarm system and arm their panel using simple voice commands.

The TC2 Skill is compatible with any Honeywell Lyric Controller, Lynx Touch or VISTA Panel that uses the Total Connect 2.0 service. This service is included with all of our no-contract monitoring plans, other than our basic bronze plan.

At this time, the following voice commands are compatible with the Total Connect 2.0 Alexa Skill:

“Alexa, ask Honeywell, What is the status of my security system?”
“Alexa, ask Honeywell, Is my security system armed?”
“Alexa, tell Honeywell to Arm”
“Alexa, tell Honeywell to Arm Away”
“Alexa, tell Honeywell to Arm Stay”

After providing the command, a message will be sent from your Alexa device to your Total Connect account. Your Total Connect account will then forward the command to your Honeywell System so that the action can be performed. This is a quick and easy way to control your system without having to get up or log-in to your Total Connect account.

Please note that you will not be able to use Alexa to disarm your system. This must still be done directly at the panel or through the Total Connect 2.0 Mobile App. Another important consideration is that the TC2 Alexa Skill cannot be used to control home automation devices at this time. However, we expect this to change in the future.

To get started using the Total Connect 2.0 Alexa Skill, simply find the Total Connect 2.0 Skill using the Alexa App on your Android or iOS device. Enable the skill, and follow the prompts on the screen to get started. After completing the setup process, your Honeywell Alarm System will be integrated with your Alexa device.

Unfortunately not, there is no integration yet for TC2 only alarm.com services.

Yes, we were actually incorrect when we said you can't run a voice scene through Alexa. We've since posted an article about that functionality online https://www.alarmgrid.com/blog/the-total-connect-2-dot-0-alexa-skill-now-supports-smart-home-sc. Unfortunately, the Alexa scene control is limited to scenes you program at the Lyric which would typically be Z-Wave scenes or the native Lyric garage door control feature using the GDCK (https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-gdck). With that said, you could setup a HomeKit scene since you can integrate the Lyric and the MyQ (through the homebridge) into HomeKit. You just wouldn't have the Alexa voice control option.

So I see its available now that was quick. In the meantime what I did was install homebridge on my mac. it allowed me to bring all my wifi enables non homekit devices into homekit to allow homekit to run those devices as well. Really cool. I have Liftmaster garage doors and they are only homekit so now I can have it opening to trigger non homekit lights to turn on. I wanted to do the same for say a fire alarm, or whatever. What I did not have with alexa though is to querry my garage doors as its only homekit. I wonder if the lyric knows my garage door is open if alexa can see it. Could be the good work around. hard to keep up on all this stuff

Good Afternoon! I am sorry to hear you are having this issue with your Alexa skill. When you setup your system with Alexa, did you link the login that was created for your user or did you use the original login that was created when you originally setup Total Connect 2.0? In order for it to show you are using Alexa, you have to link your login with Alexa skill instead of the master user's login. If you linked your personal login, check if your user and the master user are in the same slot. They have to be in their own individual slots in order for that to work separately because it will automatically default to the first login created if they were on the same slot. Are you currently monitored with us? If not, would you be interested in our no-contract, low-cost monitoring plans? If you signed up with us, we would be able to set this up for you right away. How does the Alexa skill pick which profile to use? I have 4 user profiles on the TotalConnect 2.0 website. I can use the Alexa skill w/o issues. But when I get the text confirmation it shows that I using my grandson's profile. I don't remember even specifying a profile let alone my grandson's.

I'm trying to add this to my Alexa Skills. However, when I try to log into the https://api.honeywell.com website (pops up when clicking "Link Account" in Amazon), I get "Sorry, improper data entered." However, when I use the same credentials to log into https://totalconnect2.com/, I get in just fine. When I click on "Forgot Password" on the api.honeywell.com site, it directs me to https://totalconnect2.com/forgotpassword so I feel like I'm stuck in a loop. Any suggestions?
