Hi DIYers! Today, we are promoting a new add-on package available for Alarm.com users. Alarm Grid is now proud to offer the Alarm.com Wellness Platform for customers receiving service from Alarm.com. This robust add-on is perfect for anyone with an elderly or mobility challenged loved one.

If you have an elderly, disabled, or mobility challenged loved one, then you are likely aware of the challenges involved. On one hand, you want to respect their privacy and allow them to live as independently as possible. But you also want to make sure that they are kept safe and that they can get help if needed. We have seen many offerings through the years that help users accomplish this goal. But the Alarm.com Wellness Platform might the most complete yet.

Just last week, we talked about some of the new Alarm.com wellness sensors. It seems Alarm.com is really pushing this market with their all-new wellness platform. This is more than just an emergency alert button or an occupancy sensor. This is an entire platform and user interface (UI) designed to monitor your loved one's activity and let you know about any unusual occurrences. This is yet another great way to take advantage of your Alarm.com Security System.

The Alarm.com Wellness Platform provides you with many great features that are perfect for monitoring your loved one. You can receive text and/or email alerts from the platform so that you are kept informed about any important activity. Below are just some of the ways you can use the platform:

  • Establish patterns of your loved one's usual activity, and receive alerts if activity occurs at an unusual time.
  • Make sure your loved one is active and moving around like normal.
  • Receive alerts regarding any strange or suspicious wandering or activity at odd hours.
  • Set automated security and smart home functions to make your loved one's life easier.
  • Integrate with personal emergency response pendants to know if your loved one needs help.
  • Monitor your loved one's activity, including how long they stay in bed, remain seated, or spend time outside.
  • Create an organized method for keeping track of caregivers and knowing when they come and go.

Once you have your Alarm.com account enabled for the wellness platform, you can start creating specific wellness alerts regarding the activity you want to monitor. This will allow you to know that your loved one is alright, while still maintaining their independence and privacy. Alarm.com has also released a variety of products designed to be used with the platform. At this time, we are offering the following Alarm.com Wellness Products:

The Alarm.com Wellness Platform is also great for pairing with fall pendants. These pendants go above and beyond the typical medical alert button. These devices feature built-in accelerometers that will trigger an emergency medical response upon sensing a fall. This way, your loved one will still receive help even if they fall and are unable to press the button themselves. We currently have two (2) fall pendants available:

We also want to give a special shout-out to the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus for its innovations in the wellness arena. As part of Firmware Version 2.4.0, the panel offers a Wellness Menu that allows for nurses and/or caregivers to check-in/out as needed. You can easily integrate this feature with the Alarm.com Wellness Platform as well. This Wellness Menu also offers a big auxiliary panic button in case of an emergency. You can enable the menu from within Installer Settings.

In order to use the Alarm.com Wellness Platform, you must first have a monitoring plan that includes Alarm.com service. If you are monitored with Alarm Grid, you will need a Gold or Platinum Level Plan (Self or Full). More information is available on our monitoring page. From there, you will also need your monitoring company to enable the Wellness Platform add-on package on your account. Please note that enabling this service may result in an increase to your monthly monitoring fee.

If you are an Alarm Grid customer and you are looking to add this service to your account, we recommend emailing us at support@alarmgrid.com for more information. You may also email us if you have any questions about this platform. Remember that our support hours are from 9am to 8pm EST M-F. Keep that in mind if you email us outside of our usual business hours. We look forward to hearing from you and answering your questions about the ADC Wellness Platform!

Hi DIYers! Are you looking for a reliable medical alert button for your elderly or mobility-challenged loved one? We have an answer with the Qolsys IQ Fall Pendant. This device will let your loved one live as independently as possible, while still being able to call for help when needed.

We know that having an elderly or mobility-challenged family member or loved one can present a tough dilemma. You want to respect their independence and privacy, but you also want to make sure that they can get help if you're not around. Medical alert buttons represent a good answer to this problem. Your loved one can continue to live on their own, but you will both know that help is available with the press of a button. We are sure that many users can get exactly the results they want with the IQ Fall Pendant.

The IQ Fall Pendant from Qolsys, which is also known as the QS1314-840, includes an attached 18-inch lanyard that is conveniently worn around the neck. Your family member or loved one can adjust the length of this lanyard so that it feels as comfortable as possible. Another convenience is the IP 45 water-resistant rating of the IQ Fall Pendant. This means that it can be safely brought in the bath or shower. Just make sure that it is not fully submerged for an extended period of time.

There are two (2) ways to activate the Qolsys IQ Fall Pendant. The standard method is to press and hold the center button. This button must be held down for a full half-second in order for it to activate. But the device also offers built-in fall detection using its integrated accelerometer. This way, if your family member or loved one experiences a fall and is unable to press the button, the device will still activate and alert the panel because of the rapid acceleration of the fall. As a safety precaution, you should instruct your loved one to always press and hold the center button after a fall. This is to make absolutely sure that the device activates when needed.

The IQ Fall Pendant is a 319.5 MHz medical alert button that was specifically created with the 319.5 MHz version of the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus in mind. But you can really use it with any 319.5 MHz alarm system. This includes the original Qolsys IQ Panel 2 and the Interlogix Alarm Panels. If you have a Resideo Lyric Security Panel or a 2GIG Panel, then you might consider using the 2GIG F1-345, which also offers automatic fall detection. If you have a different 345 MHz system, such as Honeywell LYNX Touch Panel, then the Honeywell 5802WXT is a strong option. Although the 5802WXT doesn't offer fall detection, it is still a reliable medical alert button. And if you have a PowerG-compatible system, then the DSC PG9938 is a strong choice as well.

Regardless of which sensor you choose, you will want to make sure that you have central station monitoring service to accompany the device. This is the only way to ensure that your loved one receives the help that they need during alarm events. A central station monitoring plan will connect your alarm system with a round-the-clock, 24/7 monitoring station for emergency help whenever an alarm occurs. If your loved one triggers an auxiliary medical alarm by activating their help button, a trained dispatcher will know to send help immediately. You can learn more about alarm monitoring by checking our monitoring page.

If you have any questions about the Qolsys IQ Fall Pendant or any of our wireless medical alert buttons, please reach out to us! A Honeywell wireless security system can do so much more than simply protect against burglaries and intrusion. With 5802WXT and 5802WXT-2 wireless medical alert transmitters, you can use your Honeywell wireless security system as a medical alert system as well. The newly designed wireless panic buttons are ideal for elders living alone or for any family member with serious health risks. Each 5802WXT or 5802WXT-2 includes a lanyard, wristband, belt clip and keychain so that your sick or elderly family members will always be a button press away from receiving the emergency response they may need. The wireless medical alert devices are water resistant so they can even be used in the shower or bath tub where dangerous slip and fall situations are likely to occur!

When Alarm Grid's central station receives an alarm from a medical alert device, the operator can call you to notify you that your sick or elderly family member is in an emergency situation. If you are not available, or you request immediate medical response, the central station operator can also call the paramedics so that your loved ones get rapid medical response.

Of course, you can use a 5802WXT or 5802WXT-2 as a normal panic button as well. When programmed as a panic button, the Honeywell 5802WXT/5802WXT-2 can trigger a silent or audible alarm and Alarm Grid's central station will call the police immediately upon receipt of the alarm. Make the most of your Honeywell wireless security system and your central station alarm monitoring service by adding wireless medical alert/panic buttons using the Honeywell 5802WXT or 5802WXT-2.
